Shaws Drogheda to open Thursday 25th October 2007

Department Stores will open their new store in the Laurence Town
Centre in Drogheda on Thursday 25th October. After over 140 years
of trading, this new Shaws store will be the 16th to open by the
Shaw Group, the only Irish owned and family run department store
company of its size in Ireland.
The opening of Shaws Drogheda follows the rapid expansion of the
group in recent years, including the complete refurbishment of a
number of properties, the redevelopment of Carlow in August 2006
and the opening of Castlebar in October 2006. Acquired from Gerard
McGuire of Parolen Properties, Shaws of Drogheda will trade off
25,000 square feet of bright, modern retail space and will occupy
a gross area of 37,000 square feet within the Laurence Town Centre.
Speaking about the opening of the new store, Jonathan Shaw, Managing
Director of Shaws said, “We are delighted with the continued
development of the company. We are looking forward to further growing
our business and catering for new customers in Drogheda with our
extensive offering of top brands and concessions that our company
are renowned for. This new store is among the growing list of high
profile retailers in Drogheda, developing the location as an exciting
and easily accessible alternative to city shopping.”
On opening, Shaws of Drogheda and M & S will be joint anchor tenants
in the Laurence Town Centre, a new €120 million development on four
acres in the centre of Drogheda. The centre has frontage onto Laurence
St, Peter St, William St, and Palace St, and includes parking for
500 cars. In addition to the retail element, the development includes
a new community centre, credit union and a HSE facility.
Renowned for their offering of high profile brands, Shaws new Drogheda
outlet will host a selection of concessions within the store, including
Warehouse, Principles, Bay, Jacques Vert, Ann Harvey, Eastex, Precis,
Libra, Country Casuals, Dash, Fuse, Regatta and Adams Kids. With
a number of departments, from home wares, cosmetics, footwear, lingerie
to extensive ladies, mens and children’s fashion, Shaws of Drogheda
will employ over 80 people when it opens on the 25th October.
Shaws Department Store, Laurence Town Centre, Drogheda will be open
7 days, trading Sundays and Bank Holidays.
