Shaws Department Store Ballina set for August Launch

Shaws Department Stores are delighted to announce the launch of their second store in Connaught. Located on Tone Street in Ballina Town Center, the store will open for business in late August of this year. This new store will be the 17th to open by Shaws, the only Irish owned and family run department store chain of its size in Ireland.

The opening of Shaws of Ballina follows on from the success of their Castlebar store which opened in 2006, the company’s inaugural venture West of the Shannon. In recent years, Shaws have enjoyed rapid expansion. Ballina will be the 5th new store opening in 5 years. Extensive refurbishment has been carried out on a number of stores with notable milestones including the opening of the Drogheda store in October 2007 and the redevelopment of Carlow in August 2006.

Jonathan Shaw, Managing Director of Shaws spoke about the imminent opening, “We are delighted to announce that Shaws Department Stores are to open in Ballina. Our store will employ over 70 people. We are looking forward to providing a new shopping experience for the people of Ballina and surrounding area with the extensive offering of top brands and concessions that our company is renowned for”.

Shaws of Ballina will occupy 37,000 square feet of bright modern retail space. A wide selection of high profile brands will be offered through menswear, womenswear, childrens, footwear, cosmetics and homewares. Concession partners have yet to be announced.

Shaws Department Store, Tone Street, Ballina will be open 7 days, and will trade Sundays and Bank Holidays.
