Celebrations Abound for Shaws Department Stores in Dungarvan
Shaws Department Stores, established in 1864, are celebrating
a number of milestones in their retail history in the Crystal County
this month. Having successfully traded in Waterford city for over
60 years, Shaws are also marking the 30th Jubilee of their Dungarvan
store this month.
Shaws of Dungarvan first opened its doors in 1977 on the main street
of the town. Since then, the store has been entirely rebuilt and
enjoyed a complete refurbishment 10 years ago. Today Shaws of Dungarvan
employs 50 staff and operates from in excess of 20,000 square feet
over two floors of modern retail space. Shaws Department Stores,
renowned for their high profile brand offering, includes a number
of hugely popular concessions - Bay Trading, Ann Harvey, Eastex
and Adams Kids, along with many other well known brands.
To commemorate their 10th anniversary in Dungarvan, Shaws will be
giving away a shopping voucher worth €1000 a day for three days
from Friday September 13th to Sunday September 15th. This is one
competition you won’t want to miss! Check in store for further details.
Commenting on the store’s anniversary, John Nee, Manager of Shaws
Dungarvan said “After 30 years we are delighted with the ongoing
success of the Dungarvan store and are committed to continued investment
to expand our business. Dungarvan is a growing town with plenty
of activity and we are looking forward to catering for both new
and our highly valued existing customers in the Dungarvan area for
many years to come.”
Shaws Department Stores have expanded rapidly in recent years with
the complete refurbishment of a number of properties along with
new store openings including the opening of the Castlebar store
in late 2006 and the much anticipated Drogheda store opening in
Autumn 2007. This will bring the total number of stores to 16 store
across the country. Shaws Department stores are one of the few remaining
Irish owned and family run retail businesses in Ireland.
